Missing Ohio family found in Everglades

MIAMI – Authorities searching a remote area of the Florida Everglades reported Friday afternoon that they have found a family of five from Ohio that had gone missing after taking an airboat trip.

The family launched their own airboat Thursday in the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area, which covers more than 670,000 acres of marsh in three South Florida counties.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officials said the airboat is painted in camouflage. The area had also been subjected to thunderstorms and rain Thursday and Friday.

The hometown and identity of the family was not immediately available Friday.

Authorities used helicopters and airboats to conduct the search.
