Fleeing driver hits barrier off Dupont

An Albion woman was arrested early Thursday after leading state police on a chase that ended with her crashing a stolen truck into a concrete median barrier near Dupont and Coldwater roads, authorities said.

Heather M. Jones, 26, was booked on charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, possession of stolen property, criminal recklessness and reckless driving, according to court documents.

At 12:16 a.m., a trooper was driving northbound near the 9000 block of Mayhew Road, south of Leo Road, and noticed that Jones was following his police car too closely, the documents said.

The trooper drove into a nearby parking lot and waited for Jones to pass.

The trooper then tried to stop Jones, but she continued on Old Leo Road, running a stop sign, court documents said.

A short pursuit ensued, driving around a roundabout in Tradewind Court before continuing onto Dupont.

The vehicle reached speeds of about 110 mph before Jones crashed the 2012 Dodge truck into a concrete divider, flattening a tire, according to court documents.

Jones was arrested and officers determined that the truck had been reported stolen out of Kosciusko County, the documents said.

Jones was being held in the Allen County Jail in lieu of $13,000 bail.
