A 50-year-old man pleaded guilty this week in Allen Superior Court to his role in a fake check-cashing scheme.
Kenneth Rollingcloud, who is homeless, faces no more than three years in prison when he is sentenced next month. But he must pay $496 in restitution to Wal-Mart, according to court documents.
Rollingcloud pleaded guilty to a charge of corrupt business influence. He was one of 11 of people arrested as part of a scheme to cash fake payroll checks.
Many members of the ring have already pleaded guilty, including Brenda Jones, 47; Preonda Jones, 31, of the 7900 block of Decatur Road; Adel Buelow, 22, of the 1700 block of Hillside Avenue; and Nigel Brown, 23, of the 3100 block of Vance Avenue.
Brenda Jones was given a two-year prison sentence and ordered to pay $994 in restitution. Preonda Jones was given a suspended prison sentence and also ordered to pay more than $900 in restitution. Buelow was given a sentence of probation. Brown was given a suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay more than $900 in restitution.
Also arrested were Nathaniel Dickey, 57, of the 100 block of West Creighton Avenue; Bernard Jones, 51, of the 100 block of West Creighton Avenue; Travis Bloom, 22, of the 7600 block of Bojrab Drive; and Angela Fett, also known as Angela Bloom, 40, of Columbia City. Charged, but not arrested, was Kiera McNeil, 19, of the 1100 block of Delaware Avenue.
Jones and Bloom have pleaded guilty to corrupt business influence.
