Pickup in chase slams into Coldwater barrier

A report as issued by the Indiana State Police:

Allen County – Shortly after midnight today a routine traffic stop by state police quickly turned into a vehicle pursuit. Indiana State Troopers attempted to stop a woman for a traffic infraction in the area of Mayhew Road and Old Leo Road in Allen County when she immediately fled in her truck.

The driver of the truck, Heather M. Jones, 26, of Albion, led police on a chase that lasted six minutes and covered approximately five miles. Jones ran several stop signs and traffic signals before she crashed her 2012 Dodge truck into a concrete median barrier near the intersection of Dupont Road and Coldwater Road. The impact flattened the rear tire on her truck and she rolled to a stop about one mile later in the front yard of 1230 Windsor Woods Boulevard.

Jones exited the vehicle and began to walk away before she was apprehended by police. Jones faces several criminal and traffic charges. The most serious charges include felony resisting in a vehicle and receiving stolen auto parts. A check of the vehicle registration alerted police that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Kosciusko County.

Jones was taken to the Allen County Jail where she is currently being held on numerous charges.
