The city of Fort Wayne’s Metro Human Relations Commission and Ivy Tech will conduct a series of free workshops as part of Fair Housing Month.
The series, The 4 D’s of Fair Housing, will have weekly workshops from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursdays at the Public Safety Academy, Ivy Tech Community College, 7602 Patriot Crossing.
The workshop schedule:
Thursday – Diversity and bias in renting
April 11 – Domestic violence and discrimination based on gender
April 18 – Disabilities and discrimination in housing
April 25 – Due diligence: Landlord responsibilities and retaliation and tenant duties
Those who complete all four sessions will receive a certificate of completion. Pre-registration is not required.
In addition, the Metropolitan Human Relations Commission will have a free presentation on Fair Housing Hot Topics from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza.
The seminar will include topics such as the Fair Housing Act, how to be a good neighbor in a multicultural environment and a special presentation by Merilyn Brown of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
