By The Associated Press

Stocks are opening higher on Wall Street as traders hope for more positive news on the U.S. economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 57 points, or 0.4 percent, to 14,628 shortly after the opening bell Tuesday.

The Standard & Poor's 500 was up six points, or 0.4 percent, to 1,568. The Nasdaq composite rose 21 points to 3,260.

Health care stocks rose the most of the 10 industry groups in the S&P. Insurers Humana and UnitedHealth were the two biggest gainers in the index after the government released rate data for Medicare Advantage plans that indicate less severe funding cuts than investors had feared.

Humana jumped 9 percent to $81.75 and UnitedHealth rose 7 percent to $63.10.

Automakers release auto sales data for March Tuesday. Chrysler's rose 5 percent.
