4 escape northwest home fire

Fire heavily damaged a home Saturday afternoon on Fort Wayne’s northwest side.

One adult and three children escaped the blaze at 6607 Bedford Downs Drive – near Goshen, West Washington Center and Huguenard roads – before firefighters arrived just after 1 p.m.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home. The fire was found in a bedroom and was brought under control in 17 minutes, the fire department said.

The fire caused heavy damage. The cause is under investigation.
