Gunshot victim shows up at hospital

A victim of a shooting arrived at a local hospital early Sunday morning and is in critical condition, police said.

Fort Wayne police who responded to a call about a shooting at Early Birds, 4201 Wells St., were told that as the nightclub was closing at 3 a.m., several people started fighting in the parking lot, and gunshots were fired.

A short time later, a man suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at a local hospital, police said. His identity had not been released.

No information about suspects is available, and no arrests have been made.

The man shot Sunday morning is the third male shooting victim in the city in a 16-hour time period.

The first shooting took place shortly after 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 16000 block of Lafayette Center Road, near West County Line Road. The second shooting occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m., at a home in the 800 block of Drexel Avenue.
