Driver critically injured in US 6 car-semi wreck

A 20-year-old Fort Wayne man was badly hurt in a crash with a semi Thursday evening southeast of Stryker, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Racee May was driving a 1987 Chrysler LeBaron west on U.S. 6 when he went off the left side of the road into a ditch and then back onto the road, hitting an eastbound semi, the patrol said. The crash occurred near Ohio 66 shortly after 7:30 p.m. May was flown to University of Toledo Medical Center. As of Friday, he was in critical condition, the patrol said.

The semi driver, David Ayers, 57, of Molino, Fla., was hauling an empty tank trailer at the time. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
