Justin Timberlake’s comeback album has sold nearly 1 million units its first week out.

Nielsen SoundScan announced Tuesday that the singer’s third album, “The 20/20 Experience,” has moved 968,000 units. It’s the 19th album in Nielsen’s 22-year history that has sold more than 900,000 albums in its debut week.

“20/20” is Timberlake’s third album. The new CD features the pop hit “Suit & Tie.”

Gucci Mane arrested

Rapper Gucci Mane was being held in jail on an assault charge after a fan told police the artist smashed a champagne bottle on his head in a downtown Atlanta nightclub.

Fulton County Jail records show that Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, was in custody early Wednesday on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon.

An arrest warrant was issued for the rapper after James Lettley of Fort Hood, Texas, who is a member of the military, told police Davis struck him at Harlem Nights Club on March 16.

Not replacing Lauer

A top NBC executive says the network is not considering replacing Matt Lauer as anchor of the “Today” show.

NBC News executive Alex Wallace, who oversees the troubled morning show, made the comment Wednesday in response to reports that the network had approached CNN’s Anderson Cooper about the “Today” job.

The report first appeared in Deadline Hollywood and was confirmed to The Associated Press by a source who spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions were private.
