Cockfighting suspect kept roosters for the eggs?

ANDERSON, Ind. – Police have arrested a man on charges he was organized cockfights in a central Indiana city.

The Herald Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/ZXYkXd) that 23-year-old Celestino Jimenez-Cortes was released on bond from the Madison County Jail on Tuesday after police arrested him on felony charges of animal fighting.

The Associated Press couldn’t reach him for comment Wednesday because there was no phone listing in his name.

Police seized 24 birds when they raided Jimenez-Cortes’ home in Anderson after a witness told investigators he saw Jimenez-Cortes fighting roosters for money in 2012 and gave police a photo of Jimenez-Cortes with some roosters.

A police affidavit says Jimenez-Cortes told investigators he made the roosters fight because he wanted a photo taken for a tattoo he desired. He said he kept the birds for eggs.
