Crash into motel ends in DWI arrest

A woman who crashed a car into a motel north of Angola was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.

About 6:45 p.m. Monday, emergency crews were sent to the Budgeteer Motor Inn at 3980 N. Indiana 127, near Interstate 69.

A 2002 Honda Accord had hit the building and caused extensive damage, the sheriff’s department said.

The Honda driver, Patricia Racine, 50, of Burlington, Vt., was not hurt. She was apparently trying to park when the crash occurred, the sheriff’s department said.

Racine was given a breath test, and she was booked into the Steuben County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Racine was being held Tuesday in lieu of $2,500 bail.
