Man accused of exposure, battery

A 26-year-old man is accused of exposing himself and assaulting a woman over the weekend in a Fort Wayne thrift store.

Derek Eccard was preliminarily charged Monday with two felonies: public indecency and sexual battery.

According to court documents, Eccard exposed himself in the store Saturday and was asked to leave. He then grabbed the woman, a store worker, and forced her head down, court documents stated.

After struggling with Eccard, the woman broke loose and ran from the store, court documents stated.

Eccard was being held Monday at the Allen County Lockup in lieu of $5,000 bail.
