The Mad Anthonys have moved their annual charity tournament to Aug. 26, so it can be part of the new Hotel Fitness Championship, former Mad Anthonys president Eric Ottinger confirmed.
The Hotel Fitness Championship will be the first of four segments in the Web.com Tour Finals, and help determine the PGA Tour lineup for 2014.
Now called the Mad Anthonys Hotel Fitness Championship Pro-Am, members of the charitable Mad Anthonys organization will have the opportunity to golf with players ranked 126 to 200 on the PGA Tour or among the top 75 on the Web.com Tour’s money list.
It will be the 56th running of the Mad Anthonys’ ever-changing tournament, and it will take place at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
The annual Red Coat dinner, at which the Hoosier Celebrities of the Year are honored, will be Aug. 25.
In 2012, the Mad Anthonys held a 12-player LPGA Tournament over two days won by Belén Mozo. Butler basketball coach Brad Stevens was the Red Coat winner.
The tournament raised a record $740,000 for the Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House, which provides lodging and support services for children undergoing pediatric and neonatal treatment. That remains the primary beneficiary this year, Ottinger said.
There will be a second Pro-Am, run by the Web.com Tour, on Aug. 28.
The Hotel Fitness Championship’s main tournament will run Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. The remaining stops on the Web.com Tour Finals will be in Davidson, N.C., Columbus, Ohio, and Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
PGA Tour cards will go to the 25 leading money winners on the Web.com Tour and another 25 players with the most cumulative money from the Tour Finals.
