Statement as issued Friday by Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control:
18 month old Sawyer, a sweet mixed-breed dog rescued from a January 2013 cruelty case, is ready to be adopted from Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. Sawyer suffered breaks to both of his front legs as a result of being thrown and has been cared for by the Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency Specialty Hospital until recently, when he was released to a private foster home where he currently resides.
The cruelty case remains an open investigation, which limits the adoption of Sawyer to those living within Allen County. Adoption profiles will be accepted on Monday, March 25. A lottery system will be used to select an adoption candidate who will be given an opportunity to meet Sawyer on Tuesday, March 26 between 12-5 p.m. (Due) to the number of people who have expressed an interest, only the family whose profile is drawn from the lottery will be given an opportunity to interact with Sawyer.
The shelter will select two alternates in the event that the first candidate declines the adoption. To apply for the adoption of Sawyer
• Print a Pet Adoption Profile from the Animal Care & Control website at www.fwacc.org and fax it to 260-427-5514 or
• Come to the shelter between the hours of 12-5 p.m., 3020 Hillegas Road on Monday, March 25 to complete and submit a profile.
