Former K's win title

The Komets may stink, but their Class A affiliate, the Dayton of the Federal Hockey League, made it to the finals.

And it lost to the Danbury Whalers.

Danbury had a couple of notable former Komets: Ed Campbell and Kelly Miller.

Dayton had Brayden Metz.

The Whalers swept the best-of-five series, and there were a bunch of fights late in the third period of the Whalers' 6-3 clinching win tonight.

Justin A. Cohn, pro sports coordinator for The Journal Gazette, has been covering the Fort Wayne Komets since 1997.
