Irish's Diggins, McGraw up for awards

Notre Dame women's guard Skylar Diggins and coach Muffet McGraw are in the running for two major postseason awards.

Diggins, a senior guard, is one of four candidates for the Naismith Trophy, presented annually to the national player of the year. Diggins is also a finalist for the Wooden Award.

Diggins averages 17 points, 5.9 assists and 3.1 steals. This the second straight year she is a finalist for the Naismith Trophy.

The other Naismith Trophy finalists are Delaware's Elena Delle Donne, Baylor's Brittney Griner and Stanford's Chiney Ogwumike.

McGraw is in the running for the Naismith national coach of the year award for a second year in a row and the sixth time in her career.

McGraw led Notre Dame to a 31-1 record and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Irish went 16-0 in the Big East to win their second straight outright regular-season conference title, and they won the league tournament for the first time in program history.

The other finalists for the coach of the year award are California's Lindsay Gottlieb, Dayton's Jim Jabir and Baylor's Kim Mulkey.
