The Harrison has grand opening

The first day of spring coincided with the grand opening Wednesday of The Harrison, an $18.5 million project encompassing nearly 100,000 square feet in downtown Fort Wayne.

The four-story building on the southeast corner of Jefferson Boulevard and Ewing Street, facing Jefferson Boulevard on one side and Parkview Field on the other, houses retail shops, commercial ventures and 43 apartments.

The Harrison is the finishing component of Harrison Square. In addition to the building, the private-public initiative is composed of Parkview Field, home of the TinCaps’ minor league baseball team, Courtyard by Marriott hotel, a 900-space parking garage and Robert E. Meyers Park.

Blue Jacket has grand opening Friday

The Blue Jacket Clothing Company is having a grand opening at noon Friday for its new retail store at 2826 S. Calhoun St. The store features gently used clothing and accessories and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

There will be a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by tours of the enterprise facility.

Blue Jacket Inc. is a not-for-profit company that serves the disadvantaged and provides training and employment to ex-inmates and other disadvantaged populations. Proceeds raised through the enterprise support Blue Jacket’s mission and operations in Fort Wayne.
