Zody elected Democratic Party chair as expected

INDIANAPOLIS – Veteran Capitol Hill staffer John Zody has been elected Indiana Democratic Party chairman as expected.

Zody was the only person to meet Wednesday’s deadline to be considered for the chairmanship. Zody has worked as former U.S. Rep. Baron Hill’s chief of staff and recently led President Obama’s re-election effort in the Midwest. He also has been teaching at Indiana University in Bloomington. He was Sen. Joe Donnelly’s pick for the job.

Others elected by the state central committee on Saturday were Cordelia Lewis Burks as vice chairman, Vera Mileusnic as secretary and Sherrianne Standley as treasurer.
