Police chase mom, 4 kids in car

Charges include resisting, meth, 4 neglect counts

Snyder

– A Hudson woman was arrested in LaGrange County late Friday after fleeing police with her four children in a vehicle, Indiana State Police said.

Jilyan Janelle Snyder, 29, is charged with resisting law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine and four counts of neglect of a dependent, state police in Fort Wayne said.

About 11 p.m. Friday, state trooper Deven Hostetler attempted to stop a vehicle on a traffic violation near County Road 650 North and County Road 1100 East in LaGrange County, police said.

The vehicle fled west from the officer, police said, leading Hostetler on a short pursuit as a passenger in the vehicle threw items out a window.

About five minutes later, the vehicle came to a stop with a flat tire on Indiana 120 and County Road 475 East. Snyder was arrested, but a 25-year-old passenger in the vehicle was not charged, police said. The passenger’s identity has not been released.

Snyder’s four children – ages ranging from 6 to 13 – also were in the car at the time, police said, and an unknown amount of methamphetamine was found inside Snyder’s purse at the time of her arrest.

Snyder also had warrants for her arrest in Noble County charging her with meth possession and visiting a common nuisance. She was being held Saturday in the LaGrange County Jail.
