IU tops Illinois in Big Ten quarters

CHICAGO – Indiana wasn't going to allow another game to get away against Illinois.

The No. 1-seeded Hoosiers knocked of No. 8 seed Illinois 80-64 in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament Friday in the United Center.

IU, which let a double-digit halftime lead disappear in a regular-season loss to Illinois, had a 35-21 lead at the break Friday, and it didn't let the lead dip below eight points in the second half.

The Hoosiers (27-5) play the winner between No. 4 seed Wisconsin and No. 5 Michigan in the semifinals Saturday

Cody Zeller led Indiana in the quarterfinals with 24 points and nine rebounds. Christian Watford had 15 points, and Victor Oladipo and Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell added 12 each. Will Sheehey scored 11.

Brandon Paul and Tracy Abrams had 16 points each for Illinois (22-12), and Myke Henry added 10.
