Man found shot to death in car on city's south side

A man was found shot to death Thursday night on Fort Wayne's south side, police said.

Police were called about 8 p.m. and found a man inside a four-door car at McKee and Abbott streets. That man was later identified by his mother as 23-year-old Demarcus E. Adams. Police would not confirm the identity.

Police have released little information about the shooting. What they were told was that the victim was sitting inside the car when another car pulled up beside it. That's when shots rang out.

Multiple shell casings were found in the street, but it was unclear how many times the man was hit.

Denise Trigg, who identified the victim as her son, said he died in her arms and that he had suffered at least one gunshot wound to his head.

She said the killing stemmed from another shooting earlier this year and was caused by a dispute between two gangs.

She implored anyone with information to come forward.

"It's not snitching. It's not snitching," she said.
