Statement as issued Wednesday by INDOT:
ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces intermittent lane restrictions on I-69 in Fort Wayne are scheduled to begin on Friday, March 15, due to work on sound barrier walls and with signage near the shoulder.
On Friday, March 15, the southbound I-69 right lane is scheduled to be restricted between Exit 305 and mile 304, as work takes place on the sound barrier wall near Covington Road. A similar restriction will take place in this area between Wednesday, March 20 and Friday, March 22. On Tuesday, March 19, the northbound I-69 right lane is scheduled for restriction between Exit 305 and mile 306, as sound barrier wall work takes place near Bass Road.
Signage work is scheduled to intermittently restrict the northbound I-69 right lane between mile 304 and Exit 305 from Wednesday, March 20, through Friday, March 22.
Drivers should watch for arrowboards and barrels directing traffic. Motorists should be aware of merging construction traffic and slow-moving equipment. The work is expected to be finished on Friday, March 22, weather permitting.
Additionally, work on the Covington Road Bridge has restricted the inside and outside shoulders on I-69 northbound and southbound near mile 304. This shoulder restriction is expected to last through the 2013 construction season.
INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, visit www.in.gov/indot.
