Easy come, easy go

The Allen County Democratic Party raised $72,219 in 2012 and spent all but $5,673 of it, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Allen County Election Board. It began the year with $5,120 on hand.

The Allen County Republican Central Committee, meanwhile, began the year with $23,546 and raised $154,183 more. Though it spent $163,620 – more than twice as much as the Democrats – its fundraising prowess let it end the year with $14,108.

Republicans spent nearly $39,000 on catering, more than $26,000 on rent for their headquarters, and more than $10,000 on printing costs.
