Zesto openings serve up taste of spring

Enjoying Zesto, back in 1999.

Despite last week's 10-plus inches of snow, the Zesto Ice Cream located at 5740 Falls Drive opened Saturday. The other three Fort Wayne locations (2225 Broadway, 210 E. Washington Center Road and 6015 St. Joe Center Road) are set to open Friday, says Chris Conner, who owns the Broadway location.

Opening day can switch from year to year based on the weather. As of last week, Conner says, he was rethinking his Friday open date because of the snow, but the forecast this week show a high of 46 degrees Friday, according to The Weather Channel.

Which begs the question: What will your first order be? I'm in a three-way tie between marshmallow sauce on chocolate ice cream sundae, a hot fudge malt and a chocolate chip cookie dough and brownie Razzle.
