Verbatim: Britton to move, add 27 jobs

Statement as issued Monday by the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance:

Fort Wayne, Ind. (March 11, 2013) – Britton Marketing & Design Group announced today that it is moving forward with plans to relocate to a soon-to-be constructed facility in Silverado Industrial Park near the Vera Bradley Design Center. The local marketing agency will partner with Great Dane, LLC to build the 20,000-square-foot creative design center, giving Britton ample space to grow its current workforce of 29 to 56 people by 2016.

“It’s encouraging to see a young company continue to create new opportunities for Hoosiers,” said Eric Doden, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “We know BMD Agency had other options available for this expansion, but this is the latest evidence that Indiana’s pro-growth, low-tax climate works for small businesses.”

Over the last several years, Britton Marketing & Design Group has outgrown its current space on West Coliseum Boulevard. The agency sees the move not only as an opportunity to create additional space for new employees, but also to have a state-of-the-art design center to use as a showplace for clients.

“Most of our new clients are from outside of Indiana,” company principal Jeff Britton says of a client roster that includes Vera Bradley, Benjamin Moore, Ace Hardware, the Art Institute of Chicago, Summit Brands, Joseph Decuis and Peg Perego.

“It has been tempting to expand our operations closer to new opportunities. Metro areas offer some advantages in efficiency, travel costs and recruitment of new talent. But we like it here. Our long-standing client Vera Bradley is here. And we believe that our Midwestern work ethic, combined with the latest technology, a new inspiring work environment and an expanded world-class team will allow us to compete with the best. The Alliance, IEDC and WorkOne made the difference. We are happy to be part of the future of Northeast Indiana.”

“We are pleased that Britton Marketing has chosen to reinvest in our community and its residents,” said Allen County Commissioner Nelson Peters. “We are also happy our Shovel Ready Site program is being put to good use by a worthy company that is bringing new jobs and investment to the local economy.”

Representatives from Britton and Great Dane, LLC worked with the Alliance, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) and WorkOne to secure incentives to ensure this investment took place in Allen County. The IEDC will make available $260,000 in EDGE tax credits and $30,000 in Skills Enhancement funds for training purposes. The Allen County Council will consider new property tax phase-ins for the new building and equipment investment at its March meeting.

Open positions will be posted on WorkOne’s website,, as well as on Britton’s company website,
