U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts on Friday told graduates of the northern Indiana Catholic boarding school he graduated from 40 years ago that persistence is the most essential quality to success and is the only trait each personINDIANAPOLIS – Two groups of female protesters took up positions on opposite sides of the Indiana Statehouse to demonstrate for and against gun control.
Each group for mothers with strong feelings about firearms drew 20 to 30 people Saturday. Both groups say they want to protect children.
Melinda Porter with Indiana Moms Against Gun Control says she prefers to have a gun so she can protect her family against attackers. Porter is the founder of the group.
Nicki McNally stood on the other side of the Statehouse with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, formerly called One Million Moms For Gun Control.
McNally says many of the group’s members are motivated by school shootings and other killings involving children.
Each group was seeking signatures for petitions to send to lawmakers.
