IU wins Big Ten title outright

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Indiana has the Big Ten title all to itself.

In a game that lived up to the hype, the No. 2 Hoosiers defeated No. 7 Michigan 72-71 Sunday in the Crisler Center to capture their first outright conference title since 1993.

Indiana's victory came down to the final minute as Michigan held a 71-66 lead with 52 seconds to play.

The Hoosiers (26-5, 14-4) turned to Cody Zeller to seal the title.

The sophomore forward hit a layup with 39.6 seconds to play to cut the Wolverines' lead to 71-68.

Then after Michigan's Tim Hardaway Jr. missed the front end of a 1-and-1, Zeller drew a foul and sank both shots to get the deficit down to 71-70 with 19.3 seconds to play.

Zeller than hit a layup with 13.8 seconds to play after Trey Burke missed the front end of a 1-and-1, and Burke's attempt at a layup missed as well as a putback attempt by Michigan.

Zeller finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Victor Oladipo had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Indiana.

Burke had 20 points for Michigan (25-6, 12-6).
