CLEVELAND (AP) — The man who famously put down his Big Mac to help rescue three women held captive for a decade in an Ohio house will never have to pay for another burger in his hometown.TOLEDO, Ohio – Six men from northwest Ohio, including four family members, have been indicted on federal charges of running a multi-state truck theft ring and cutting up the rigs for parts.
The 17-count indictment was announced Friday by federal prosecutors and the FBI.
The defendants are charged with running the truck theft ring out of two locations in Toledo and stealing vehicles in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
They are accused of dismantling stolen semi-trucks, trailers and cargo, and dealing in stolen vehicles and parts out of a Toledo chop shop.
The charges include conspiracy, theft of interstate shipments and transporting stolen vehicles and goods.
There was no immediate comment from the attorneys for the defendants. Email messages were sent to each.
The 17-count indictment names Michael Wymer, 54, of Toledo; Robert W. Debolt, Jr., 47, of Toledo; Michael A. Deutsch, 38, of Toledo; Shawn M. Wymer, 27, of Holland; Gary J. Wymer, 55, of Rossford; and Terrance L. Wymer, 28, of Toledo, Ohio.
“This was a highly organized group that stole from people throughout the Midwest,” said Steven M. Dettelbach, United States attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
