  • Women's volleyball picked 2nd in Summit
    The IPFW women’s volleyball was picked to finish second in the Summit League preseason poll of the league’s head coaches. The Mastodons received 53 points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Volleyball team beats Sacred Heart

IPFW ended a three-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart (2-12) on Friday at the Gates Center.

The Mastodons (7-7) lost the second set, 20-25, but won the other three, 25-17, 25-12 and 25-17.

Eddie Rivera, with a .429 hitting percentage, had 14 kills and added three aces for IPFW, which had 11 aces. Bryan Saunders added nine kills.

The Mastodons return to the Gates Center for a 7 p.m. match tonight against No. 9-ranked Penn State.
