Komets lose to Florida

In the first ever meeting between the Komets and the Florida Everblades, the Komets wound up with a 6-3 loss Friday at the Coliseum.

Florida won the ECHL championship last year. Fort Wayne won the CHL title.

Former Komets defenseman Mike Ratchuk had one goal and two assists in the first of back-to-back games between the teams.

Fort Wayne got goals from Jamie Milam, Matt Firman and Tyler Butler.

Goaltender Jesse Deckert, in his second professional game, stopped 30 shots to thwart the Komets. Jeff Deslauriers had 30 saves for Fort Wayne.
