Morgan Stinson helped the Homestead gymnastics team to a state finals appearance last year.
So the Spartans wanted to return the favor.
Stinson, a junior, was lost to the team this year because of an ACL injury but will still be a part of another state participant after the Spartans finished second at Friday's Huntington North Regional and will move onto to next Saturday's state meet at Ball State.
Homestead finished behind team champion Bishop Dwenger 111.650-103.900, with the top two teams advancing to state.
The Spartans just beat out Carroll's 103.650 for the chance to move on as a team.
"We worked really hard, and we wanted to get Morgan Stinson back to state," said Morgan Hardwick, who finished third at the regional in the all-around. "She was definitely our top girl, so we promised her we would get her there."
Stinson finished third in the all-around last year at the regional and helped Homestead to a seventh-place finish at the state meet with a 104.425 team total.
