Stutzman to lead 2nd Amendment initiative

Statement as issued Thursday by Steve Scalise:

Washington, D.C. – Republican Study Committee Chairman Steve Scalise today announced that Rep. Marlin Stutzman will chair the newly created RSC 2nd Amendment Initiative for the 113th Congress.

“President Obama’s radical anti-gun agenda is a threat to our constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” said Scalise. “Efforts to take away the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans will not reduce crime or prevent criminals from breaking the law. We will not allow President Obama and liberals in Congress to take away our right to bear arms, and I am glad that Marlin Stutzman agreed to spearhead the RSC’s 2nd Amendment Initiative where we will fight each and every day to protect our constitutional right to self defense. I thank Marlin for his leadership on this issue and look forward to working with him in the 113th Congress to protect and defend liberty.”

“As the President continues his aggressive gun control campaign, Republicans need to stand and defend our right to bear arms now more than ever,” said Stutzman. “The President’s out-of-touch agenda is based on misinformation and will infringe on the freedoms of everyday Americans. The RSC’s 2nd Amendment Initiative will help equip conservatives in Congress to defeat the President’s crusade for ineffective and unconstitutional gun controls. I look forward to working with my colleagues to protect the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. The RSC has held the line on conservative, common-sense principles for years and I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with my colleagues in this cause.”
