The 12th annual Tribeca Film Festival will feature everything from Will Forte’s dramatic film debut to a tale of arctic cowboys herding reindeer.

The New York festival on Tuesday announced about half of the films that will make up this year’s lineup. Entries include the Brad Pitt-produced documentary “Big Men” about oil companies in Africa; the follow-up to “Sherrybaby” from filmmaker Laurie Collyer, starring Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon; and a documentary about China’s appetite for Bordeaux wine, narrated by Russell Crowe.

The festival opens April 17. The rest of the lineup will be announced today.

Brody Jenner joins ‘Kardashians’ cast

Brody Jenner is joining the cast of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”

The E! network says the 29-year-old son of Bruce Jenner will appear on season eight of the popular reality show.

Brody Jenner has made cameo appearances on the program previously. The show follows the grown Kardashian kids, their half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and their parents Bruce and Kris Jenner.

Season eight is set to premiere in June.

Kennedy Center plans hip-hop fest

Hip-hop artists including rappers Nas and Somalia-born K’naan will take center stage in an unexpected place next year: as part of next season at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

The center announced Tuesday that its 2013-14 season would include the weeklong festival “One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide.”

The 2014 hip-hop festival will open with Nas rapping with musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra Pops playing music from his classic debut album “Illmatic.”

Fox renews thriller, 3 comedy series

Fox renewed several series for next season on Monday.

The Kevin Bacon thriller “The Following” will be back for a sophomore season. Also returning are comedies “New Girl,” “The Mindy Project” and “Raising Hope,” according to news releases from the network.

‘Bible’ a big draw; ‘Idol’ dips to low

The Bible is hot and aspiring pop stars not in the latest TV ratings.

The History network’s first installment of the miniseries “The Bible” was seen by 13.1 million people on Sunday. The series will air in four more installments concluding March 31, which is Easter Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Nielsen company said both episodes of “American Idol” last week had their smallest audiences since joining Fox’s regular schedule more than a decade ago.
