COLUMBUS, Ohio – Libraries in Columbus and Cleveland are expanding their digital offerings.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Columbus Metropolitan Library patrons now have free access through a service called hoopla to more than 300,000 movies, television shows and other video offerings. The Plain Dealer reports 400 magazines are becoming available digitally in Cuyahoga County.

Columbus is one of seven library systems in the country to take part in the hoopla pilot program. The others are in Toledo; Charlotte- Mecklenburg, N.C.; Harford County, Md.; Los Angeles, Orange County, Calif.; and Seattle.

Users in Columbus don’t download the materials but access up to six items a month through a remote device. The project will also make available unlimited copies of digital books to library patrons.
