Convicted rapist faces sentence up to 340 years

GREENWOOD, Ind. – A jury has found a convicted rapist guilty of rape and seven other counts in an attack on a suburban Indianapolis woman while her 1-year-old daughter slept nearby.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/YCyBQ9) a Johnson County jury deliberated less than two hours before returning guilty verdicts against 34-year-old Shawn Corbally on charges of rape, burglary, two criminal confinement counts and four counts of criminal deviate. He faces a possible sentence of as many as 340 years in prison.

Corbally’s release from the Marion County Jail in Indianapolis days before the July attack on a Greenwood woman in her apartment led to new procedures for rearrested sex offenders.

Corbally was released from prison in February 2010 after serving less than 12 years of a 25-year sentence for a September 2000 rape conviction.
