EACS leader gets $200,000 to resign

Green

East Allen County Schools has agreed to pay Superintendent Karyle Green more than $200,000 to resign as the district's leader 18 months before her contract ends.

EACS board announced that the district and Green mutually agreed to separate earlier this week.

Board President Neil Reynolds said the agreement allows the district to move forward to continuous improvement of the district for students, staff and the community.

Green announced in early January that she would resign when her contract expires on June 30, 2014. At that time, the board and Green began negotiating the separation, Reynolds said previously.

According to the agreement, Green will remain the superintendent of the district until the end of the business day on Friday, but Reynolds said Green, who never moved permanently to Fort Wayne, is already back at her home in South Bend. He said she is in communication with her staff by phone.

Reynolds said the board plans to name an interim superintendent at its board meeting Tuesday.
