Reports: Irish add punter

Notre Dame added another punter to its roster, according to reports.

Alex Wulfeck told Blue & Gold Illustrated and Irish Sports Daily that he plans to transfer from Wake Forest to Notre Dame.

Wulfeck didn't play as a freshman for the Demon Deacons, and since he will have earned his degree from Wake Forest, he will not have to sit out next season when he enrolls in graduate classes at Notre Dame.

Wulfeck averaged 39.6 yards on 72 punts with Wake Forest. He was a walk-on originally with the Deacons and earned a scholarship after his freshman season.

Wulfeck was the starting punter as a junior, but after suffering a groin injury before last season, he lost his starting job.

Wulfeck will join scholarship kicker Kyle Brindza and freshmen Andrew Antognoli and John Chereson, who will both be walk-ons, as punting options for Notre Dame.
