CHEERS to Daniel, who pulled my car out of a ditch on Speedway Drive on Feb. 4. His good nature, great sense of humor and kindness genuinely touched my heart. He was assisted by two other young men who stopped to help. What a delight and reassurance to know there are people who will pause from their busy lives to help others in distress and refuse any reward. All three showed me respect and great generosity. I am truly humbled by their act of kindness. I will pay it forward.
NAOMI HEIDELBERG Fort Wayne
CHEERS to the good Samaritans who helped me out on the cold winter night of Feb. 4. While trying to turn into a Marathon gas station on Coldwater Road, I misjudged the driveway due to the snow-covered roads and my poor eyesight. My car ended up lodged on the curb. Thankfully, some kind-hearted souls noticed my distress and rushed to help me push the car back onto the road. Without these generous men, I might still be stuck at that gas station waiting for a way home.
MICHAEL W. MORRISSEY Fort Wayne
CHEERS to maestro Andrew Constantine, the featured artists, and the entire Fort Wayne Philharmonic. The Feb. 9 Phil Masterworks concert was one of the best. We have an outstanding orchestra, playing in a wonderful venue, and a varied and entertaining program of the finest music which was greatly appreciated by the audience. The only negative was that the Embassy Theatre was only about two-thirds to three-quarters full. People, you dont know what you are missing – come to a Masterworks concert and find out.
JOHN and JANE FOELL Auburn
CHEERS to the young lady who performed the Heimlich maneuver on me Feb. 10 at Lees Famous Recipe on East Rudisill Boulevard. You left before I could properly thank you.
MIKE PLEUS Fort Wayne
CHEERS to the person who turned my purse
in to the service center at the Illinois Road Meijer after I left it in a grocery cart on Feb. 1. It could have been a disaster, except for the honesty of the person who turned it in.
KATHY SCHAEFER Fort Wayne
CHEERS to Ron, the courteous gentleman who paid for breakfast on Feb. 17 for three little old ladies at Halls Prime Rib Restaurant. His kind gesture certainly made our day!
PHYLLIS BLAUGH, MARTY FELGER and LUCILLE MOORE Fort Wayne
JEERS to Roger Ebert, who just does not get it in regard to his review on the movie Safe Haven. It follows the book, and the ending was excellent. It deserves a far better rating than 1 1/2 stars. As for me, I sure was not flummoxed.
