‘Scary spice’ garners seat on ‘Talent’ panel

NBC says former Spice Girl Melanie Brown is joining the judges’ panel of “America’s Got Talent.”

Brown, also known as Scary Spice during her time with the 1990s pop group, will take her seat alongside Howie Mandel and Howard Stern when the variety competition show returns for its eighth season this summer on NBC.

She recently completed a two-season run as judge on the Australian edition of “The X Factor.”

Timberlake to host

Justin Timberlake will be all over the NBC airwaves next month ahead of the release of his new album “The 20/20 Experience.”

The singer is slated to pull double-duty as the host and musical guest March 9 on “Saturday Night Live,” the network said in a release Thursday.

The singer will then appear March 11 to 15 on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” where he will perform each night and sit down to chat with Jimmy Fallon on Monday and Friday, according to a separate release.

The March 2 “Saturday Night Live” will be hosted by Kevin Hart with musical guest Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Hart’s gig had been previously announced.

Surgery for singer

Lady Gaga says she’s had surgery to fix her hip.

The 26-year-old singer posted on her blog late Wednesday that she had hip surgery and it “happened so fast.” She canceled her “Born This Way Ball” tour last week.

She thanked her fans in the post, saying they gave her “a lot of strength.”

Platinum-selling rapper Ja Rule left an upstate New York prison Thursday morning after serving most of his two-year sentence for illegal gun possession and headed straight into federal custody in a tax case.

U.S. Marshals escorted the 36-year-old musician out of Mid-State Correctional Facility in Albany at 9:30 a.m. He was being held at the Oneida County Jail in central New York as he awaited word from the Federal Bureau of Prisons about where he’ll serve time in the tax case.
