Ants win in Erie

After a nearly two-week layoff, the Mad Ants returned to action Friday with a 106-97 victory at Erie, Pa.

The Ants (16-17) got 29 points, 11 rebounds and five assists from D-League all-star forward Tony Mitchell. His All-Star Game teammate Ron Howard added 27 points, and Anthony Richardson scored 20.

The Ants had not played an NBA D-League game since Feb. 8, when they defeated Iowa.

The team travels to Springfield, Mass. for a 7 p.m. game Saturday against the Armor (11-12).

It will be the third consecutive game in which the Ants have been without its leading scorer and rebounder, Luke Harangody, who is out with a knee injury. Harangody, the former Notre Dame standout, averages 20.1 points and 12.3 rebounds.

First-year coach Duane Ticknor has said he hopes to have Harangody back for Tuesday's home game against Erie.
