Poor Marino, the guy getts bullied all the time & still puts up points.

I'm in 9th place in fantasy hockey & like the Komets out of the playoffs. I have an idea I check the waiver wire for US players under 6' tall

I haven't lost hope, but I can't speak for many of the players, coach, or front office!

Hit, good posts lately!
I got ready to post a comment yesterday breaking down the rest of the season and explaining how the schedule was favorable and all they had to do was win their home games. So much for that idea. I've been going to games for 30+ years and don't ever remember a year like this....so i did some research. Right now their winning % at home is 42%. They have only had losing seasons at home 3 times in 60 years and the worst year was 96-97 at 41%. so, this is historically bad and has real potential to be the worst home season in K's history. Another interesting stat....the K's have won 68% of all their home games in 60 years, that's pretty darn good. Yes, we are spoiled, but also, this team is really, really bad!
How is Marino still 3rd in scoring in this league on this pathetic scoring team? Think about that. How good would he be on a good team? How much worse would we be without him? Is he the best forward in the league....all things considered? Nobody on a team this bad is going to win any league awards, but if we were in the top 4 teams in the league we would be talking about him being the league MVP. It is interesting that his CHL skills have carried over at the same level in The "E" but so many other K's players skills have not.

I read a lot of complaints about the product on the ice. I don't make many games, but I did make it there last night. My thoughts:
I didn't see a lack of effort from the K's. I just saw a Cyclones team that was bigger and faster. And simply had more talent. They beat a hustling K's team to every puck, with ease. Our guys skated hard. The Cyclones got the job done with what looked like half the effort. Schrock hustled. He's just not as talented as his counterparts. I'm not saying you guys are liars. I'm sure they have brought their 'Opening Night' effort on many occasions this year and it's been terrible to pay as much as we do to watch. What I'm saying, is I think the guys care. But, they're simply just not good enough.

Jeremy, I wish there was a way to get you video of complete games somehow. Might give you some insight as to why so many on here are fed up with the lack of effort.

Even if you went back and looked at the game highlights Justin provides, you'd see pretty strong evidence of what, IMO, is a lack of effort.

But in the end it's what you consider effort versus lack of skill, so if you're happy with what you're paying for, I'm honestly happy for you. Obviously you're not the only one, because we're still drawing pretty decent crowds.

Just a note to Komets fans heading up for tonight's game...there's an event at the convention center (across the street from HC) going on all day and into the evening. Parking's going to be tight. You might want to arrive very early, especially if you plan to eat at one of the downtown restaurants before the game. Safe travels. (Oh, and GO WALLEYE!)

I've been beating the "lack of talent equivalent to the better teams in this league" drum all year. When we have gotten good help from the AHL we have been pretty competitive, when we say stupid stuff in the press, like "my guys vs their guys" and lost most of "their guys" to call up's we are not competitive. As far as effort, what most of us complain about is the lack of hitting and some times I wonder if you can't hit what you can't catch, and that leads us right back to talent. Talent evaluation starts and ends at the top of this organization. Time will tell if Franke is the GM he thinks he is or not. We won't have to speculate about that either, the record will tell us all we need to know.
Interesting side bar...my last post was pure stats, little or no opinion and I still got a thumbs down....interesting.

Normaly, at this point in a poor season, the Franke's would bring in a goon and pimp the heck out of it on local media (ie Mirasty).

Because of the recent sissification of the Komets by their president, Michael Franke, ie: no more visitor lineups so we can't chant YOU SUCK, no more of certain songs so we can't scream YOU SUCK, no passion from the coach or owners during the game (like it used to be). The unrelenting, never ending, in-game promotions aimed at little kids and soccer moms, nary a second of silence in case someone would taunt a player or official.

Because of that and the new league that isn't as happy with goonin' it up to hide your brother's lack of GM skills, they are left with little else but to feign their dissatisfaction with the team and take no responsibility for it. They have made the Ft Wayne experience bland, and flat, like dry shredded wheat.

Even though they engineered this team to win AFTER the lockout and they had so many scorers that scoring would never be a problem and they had so many leaders that the locker room would be a joyous, happy place. THEY DON'T! THEY WON'T!

Do I need to go on or can you fill in the blanks yourself??

The team is bad, you (Dave and Mike) made some big mistakes, that happens. Go ahead and put lipstick on this pig and pucker up. Just don't expect us to be standing in line to do the same.

Tim G, your posts have been great the last few weeks; but it has been my experience that many fans on local blogs DO NOT like stats because it can deflate the puffed up image of their heroes...

Komets are 4-8 since the last scoring Norfolk forward was reassigned to Norfolk....

I just watched the "low lights" from last nights game. I cannot remember a smallish scorer (Marino)that gets pushed and slashed all night with absolutely ZERO retaliation.

No team chemistry whatsoever..
No one appears to gave a _ _ _ _.

Unbelievable.

RDMann, I don't doubt what you say. I'm sure they've lacked effort a lot this year. If this many people are saying the same thing, I'm sure it's true. I was just making an observation about Friday. It looked like, even if they tried, they still aren't nearly as good as most of the league. I've seen 4 games this year, and Friday was the first time I was close to satisfied with the effort. Was I satisfied with the result? No. But, we can't win a title every year. I'll chalk it up like I did the first CHL year. They've been burned twice now by holding onto the past. It stinks, but they'll build a better team next year. Enjoy Schrock while you can. This is his final year wearing a Komets jersey.
