A Columbia City man was arrested Tuesday after a woman told police he molested her 3-year-old daughter.
Zachery Robert Roderick Walsh, 20, is charged with child molesting, fondling, or touching a child younger than 14, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department said.
Officers went to a Claypool residence about 11:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a call from the child’s mother, police said.
The mother explained that a family friend had stopped by her home and brought along Walsh, her brother.
The child’s mother and her friend left Walsh to watch her two daughters while they went shopping, police said.
The woman returned and discovered that Walsh had inappropriately touched her daughter, police said.
Walsh was taken to the sheriff’s department, where he admitted inappropriately touching the girl, police said. He was being held in the Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
