Snow in forecast for region

FORT WAYNE – Snow might dust the region today, a precursor to a winter storm forecast for late Thursday.

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana said Wednesday morning that the following counties might see snow today – with some areas seeing up to an inch of accumulation:

  • Indiana – Adams, Allen, Kosciusko, Whitley, LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb, Wabash, Huntington, Wells, La Porte, St. Joseph in, Elkhart, Starke, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, White, Cass, Miami, Grant, Blackford and Jay.
  • Ohio – Williams, Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Allen.
The area of northern Indiana north of U.S. 6 is supposed to get the most snow today.

On Thursday night, accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible in some areas of the region, the weather service said, although current predictions show it’s likely the worst of the storm will be in the northwest corner of the state.

Some areas of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio might see freezing rain early Friday, but the weather service map indicated that it is likely to be south of Fort Wayne.
