Key matchup: Two of the Big East’s top backcourts will be on display tonight as Notre Dame’s Atkins and Jerian Grant matchup against Pittsburgh’s Woodall and James Robinson. Atkins has the conference’s second best assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.8, and Grant is seventh at 2.2. Robinson leads the Big Eat in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.1, and Woodall is third at 2.6.

The skinny: Notre Dame and Pittsburgh had winning streaks snapped Saturday. The Irish had a two-game streak end with a 71-54 loss at Providence, and the Panthers had a three-game streak end with a 79-69 loss at Marquette. … Notre Dame is 5-2 in its past seven games with three of the victories coming in overtime. … Pittsburgh is the Big East’s best defensive team, giving up 55.4 points per game.
