The body of Thomas Haskins was a day away from being cremated – and his closest kin didn’t even know he was dead.A vacant house caught fire early Sunday on Fort Wayne’s north side, according to the city fire department.
Firefighters were sent to 1426 St. Joseph Blvd., near Tennessee Avenue, about 2:20 a.m., and they encountered flames coming from the back of the two-story house, the department said.
The blaze, which heavily damaged the first floor, was under control by about 2:50 a.m. No one was hurt, the department said.
The cause remains under investigation.
