And check out the video, too.
In regards to the Komets playing short because of immigration rules, I'm told that this is legitimate. It takes weeks to get a player who is not from the U.S. the appropriate work visa and can involve them having to go back to the border, from which they might not be able to return. Which brings us back to American players. I still can't believe that there isn't anyone out there, and that it wouldn't have been better to have someone last week instead of playing short (just in case there were injuries or a brawl or something), but one source told me the Komets couldn't find anyone who was American that they felt could actually help.
I guess we would have to go through all the SPHL and Federal League rosters to find American players to see if this is true.
It doesn't matter; John Dunbar is going to be back this week to take the open spot in the lineup and the Komets like him a lot.
The Komets are also now hoping to get defenseman Nick Schaus back from Norfolk of the American Hockey League. He would definitely help.
I know some of the players are nervous today awaiting possible trades. As I said Sunday, saying you are going to trade is one thing, but you have to have someone other teams will want to pay for, too. The three players of real value the Komets have -- because they're not veterans -- are Brandon Marino, Jean-Michel Rizk and Eric Giosa. Tough to give up any of those guys.
I wonder, and this is just a guess, if maybe they make a move with a team like Evansville for a defenseman.
By the way, in regard to the rumor that the Komets have signed Ahmed Mahfouz -- check out these stats -- I really don't know if it's true.
One other thing, please watch the language in your comments. I actually had to stop on the way back from Toledo to see about removing some things. I really don't have the time for that, people, especially after a long day like that. And if you have something to say about Blake, do it on his blog; this isn't the place. We've been mostly well behaved this season. I really don't want to start banning people for inappropriate language. Other than that, I understand that you are passionate and the team is performing poorly. Discuss away, just keep the racy stuff to a minimum. Thank you.
