Laundry robbers steal cash, flee

Two robbers emptied the cash drawer at a local laundry Sunday before fleeing on foot, police said.

Police responded to a call about 9:20 p.m. Sunday about an armed robbery at Sunshine Laundry-Dry Cleaning, 1806 Lake Ave.

An employee told police that two men entered the store and asked for change for a $5 bill, according to police reports. As the employee opened the cash drawer to make change, one of the two men pointed a gun at her.

The employee told police that she walked away from the counter and back into another area, so she was out of sight. She said both robbers were men about 5-foot-9 and were black. One of the men had a thin build with a mustache and a beard, while the other was heavier than the first and had less facial hair, according to police reports.

Officers on the scene found the empty cash drawer.
