  • Softball season ends
    Jessica Hall gave up only three hits to IPFW and the UCLA softball team defeated the Mastodons 8-0 on Saturday to end IPFW's season at the NCAA Regional in Louisville, Ky.
  • Mastodons to regionals
    IPFW senior Theresa McHugh and freshman Rachel Dincoff have earned spots at the NCAA East Region Preliminary Championships, which begins May 23 in Greensboro, N.C.
  • Softball players honored
    IPFW junior Ashleigh Bousquet and sophomore Larissa Franklin were named to the Summit League Softball Academic All-League team, as voted on by the schools’ faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.

IPFW men top UMKC

IPFW moved into a tie for sixth place in the Summit League with a 65-60 win over UMKC on Thursday night in Kansas City, Mo.

The Mastodons (11-16, 4-9) share sixth with the Kangaroos (7-20, 4-9) and South Dakota (8-17, 4-9), which lost to Oakland 76-75 on Thursday.

IPFW snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory as it won for the only the second time in a true road game this season. The Mastodons are 2-11 on the road.

Frank Gaines led IPFW with 16 points. Joe Reed scored 12, and Mario Hines added 11.

Estan Tyler was the only UMKC player to score in double digits with 15.

IPFW led 34-26 at halftime and held on as it was outscored 34-31 in the second half.
