Saint Francis women win, now tied atop Crossroads

Skylarr Shurn missed only 2 of 11 shots and finished with 21 points for the Saint Francis women’s basketball team, which pulled into tie with Indiana Wesleyan for first place in the Crossroads League with a 64-56 victory over Grace in Winona Lake.

Brooke Ridley scored 12 points and Kayla Drake had 11 for the Cougars (25-3, 14-2), as they recovered from a five-point halftime deficit.

Juaneice Jackson scored 24 points on 9-of-23 shooting for Grace (18-10, 9-7).

Indiana Wesleyan lost 50-48 to Bethel.

IPFW 70, NORTH DAKOTA ST. 58: In Fargo, N.D., Amanda Hyde’s 19 points led the Mastodons (9-14, 5-6 Summit) past the Bison (9-15, 5-7).

INDIANA TECH 90, NORTHWESTERN OHIO 77: Chelsea Carradine and Rachael Kruse both scored 22 points for the Warriors (13-15, 11-9 WHAC) at the Schaefer Center. Shaye Warman had 25 for Northwestern Ohio (9-19, 6-14).

TRANSYLVANIA 57, MANCHESTER 49: In North Manchester, Nicole Coffman scored 27 points for Transylvania (18-5, 14-2 HCAC). Manchester (8-15, 7-9 HCAC) got nine apiece from Abby Lang and Erynn Meiklejohn. Manchester squandered a 10-point lead by allowing a 32-14 run.

TAYLOR 67, HUNTINGTON 41: In Upland, Becca Daniels’ 19 points paced Taylor (20-8, 9-7 Crossroads), which went on a 41-18 run to close the game. Huntington (15-12, 7-9) was led by Sarah Miller-Jennings’ 14 points.

TRINE 63, ALBION 46: In Angola, Megan Loveberry scored 22 points for Trine (12-11, 6-8 MIAA).

BALL STATE 65, W. MICHIGAN 62: In Muncie, Jauwan Scaife scored a career-high 30 points, including three three-pointers, to help the Cardinals (9-13, 3-7 MAC) end a three-game skid and snap the Broncos’ (15-8, 7-3) seven-game streak.

VALPARAISO 80, CLEVELAND ST. 72: In Cleveland, Ryan Broekhoff scored 15 points to lead the Crusaders (19-6, 9-2 Horizon).

NEBRASKA-OMAHA 85, IUPUI 78: In Indianapolis, John Karhoff scored 26 points as the Mavericks (9-18, 6-8 Summit) overcame a 22-point deficit. Sean Esposito scored 23 points for the Jaguars (6-20, 1-11).

INDIANA ST. 66, S. ILLINOIS 65: In Terre Haute, Jake Odum’s layup with 19 seconds to play lifted the Sycamores. RJ Mahurin had 16 points to lead the Sycamores (16-8, 9-4 Missouri Valley).

OLIVET 84, TRINE 79: In Oliver, Mich., Blake Krum scored 20 points for Olivet (11-12). Ian Jackson made 12 of 22 shots, including 17 of 23 free throws, to score 44 for the Thunder (14-9, 7-5 MIAA).

GRACE 75, SAINT FRANCIS 57: In Winona Lake, Bruce Grimm Jr.’s 21 points paced Grace (19-8, 11-5 Crossroads). Saint Francis (17-11, 9-7) got 15 points from Scott Kohne.

INDIANA TECH 67, NORTHWESTERN OHIO 66: Melvin Brooks scored 20 points and Antonio Cannon added 15 for the Warriors (21-7, 14-6 WHAC) at the Schaefer Center. Derrick Tate had 23 for Northwestern Ohio (16-12, 11-9).

HUNTINGTON 63, TAYLOR 59: In Huntington, Shane Merryman made all eight of his free throws and had 24 points for the Foresters (15-13, 6-10 Crossroads). Taylor (19-9, 11-5) got 25 points from Casey Coons.

TRANSYLVANIA 91, MANCHESTER 47: In North Manchester, Silas Sims’ 11 points led Manchester (4-18, 1-15 HCAC), while Transylvania (18-5, 13-3 HCAC) got 26 points from Parker Stansberry.
